Submission Guidelines

Thanks for checking in with Skywater! As an independent publisher, we do operate on a lean budget and staff, so unfortunately we can’t take every manuscript that slips through the door. But we still like to see new projects, in case a winner is lurking about.

Generally, the process works like this:

1. Submit your questionnaire (below).
2. If your project catches our interest, we’ll request your manuscript.
3. If the manuscript is compelling, we’ll bring your project to a vote with our board.
4. If the board approves your project, then we will offer a contract to you for the book.

At any time, if your project doesn’t fit within our bandwidth, scope, and vision, we’ll respond and let you know, so you can seek publishing elsewhere. Bear in mind this process is lengthy and materials need to be reviewed by much of our staff, so it may take up to 4-6 months to complete, if longer.
